Stone Bowl Grill
Monday, October 13, 2014
So last Saturday, my sisters and I decided to go check out Stone Bowl Grill. To those of you who don't know what it is, it's a Korean restaurant that recently opened in Milwaukee. And I have to say I have never tried Korean food till I went to Stone Bowl. And It was amazing. The place was so cute and they blasted Kpop in the restaurant. And oh my gosh, there was so many cute waiters like they were all guys beside one girl. But any who I ordered the Kimchi Soon Dubu which was spicy and hot. Like it came in a actual stone bowl as you can see in the photo down below. I was stirring the stew around and I didn't even know they putted an uncooked egg into it so I was like 'whatt?' and stirred it. And boy, did it give more flavor to the broth. My younger sister ordered the Bibimbop and she said it sucked. It was really plain and I can back her up on it too 'cause I tried it as well. >.>
My older sister ordered the Kimchi jjigae, which she said was delicious as well. LOL. We were then later joined by a few friends who ordered the chef special which was a hotpot filled with yummy goodness - mandoos, veggies, ramen noodles. <3
I also had their ddukbokki which was delicious as well. It was a share able dish so we ordered two bowls and everyone ate away at it. LOL. They were spicy and a bit crispy so they had a nice crunch to them. My friend ordered the Kalbi and he told me, it was delicious as well and he was satisfied with his choice. According to him, he said, "the meat was juicy and tender."

Learning Korean & Mandarin!
Saturday, October 4, 2014
I got the chance to learn Korean and Mandarin through some close friends of mine and it's quite an experience. All my friends who are teaching me these languages are not for the U.S. In fact, English isn't even their first language. They all live over sea in their home country - China and South Korea. If you're planning on leaning any language, choose a teacher from their home country. Though it may seem hard to keep in contact with them, here's some tip:
- Use Kakaotalk, Line or any free texting and messaging apps. They help keep you to in contact with each other and it alerts you when they write. And the good thing is, is that they tell you when you or your friend have seen or received the message so they have to reply back to you. It doesn't matter where you are around the world, this app let's you even cam and record your voice to each other. Plus you can have groups on them as well. Learning a new language is always fun with friends.
- Use skype. It's important to be able to see and hear your teacher in front of you. It helps to have them there for an hour or so, just so they can answer any of your questions. They can also help you with pronunciations if you can't just seem to hit it spot on.
- Save the date. Whether it's in your phone with a reminder or scribbled on a calender. It helps you remember when you have a lesson with your teacher that live over sea as well as skype lessons. Plan lessons and when you guys have time to be able to teach one another since the time difference will play a huge part.
- Have a notebook and a couple of writing supplies. When they teach, make notes on pronunciation to what they mean and everything in between. What I like to have with me, regarding writing supplies, I usually have a mechanical pencil, a couple of pens (varying colors), and highlighters.
- Buy a dictionary for that language. It's crucial that you understand what your are learning and every component counts. Plus sometimes, you can't contact your teacher because of the time difference. It helps a lot!
That's all the tip I have for now. There are plenty of ways to keep in contact on day to day bases but I prefer to text them every now and then for help, alongside of the skype group.
